Feeding the Youth.

"Feeding is a very important ritual for me. I don't trust people who don't like to eat."
-Gina Gershon

Actress Gina Gershon has it figured out here. Eating is one of our most treasured daily rituals aside from sleeping and breathing. If you meet a person who doesn't like to eat then they probably won't be able to accomplish the other two routines mentioned.

With all this being said, we love to eat. Everyone has a favorite dish, dessert, or vegetable for that matter. If you don't, you know no excitement. However, when you think about it, there are people who don't have any dishes, desserts, or vegetables even though they have favorites. According to a study in 2010, these are the 925 million hungry people in the world. Yeah that's right I said million.

The thought of a child not having food hurts me. Not only are they not getting their required daily nutrients, but they are also losing hope. They are losing hope for a day where they don't have to be provided for.

World hunger is a problem. So I'm providing a solution. I have been granted the opportunity to shoot a promotional video for the Ivanhoe Village based-Feeding Children Everywhere (FCE). They are a non-profit organization geared towards aiding those without food in their stomachs. With 91% of donations going towards the cause, this is an organization that prides itself on feeding so many with healthy food at such a low cost. It only take $1 to feed 4 children.

I don't really have a personal experience that goes along with world hunger, but it strikes a soft spot in my heart. I actually just made made my first donation ever to charity without being harassed by a persistent bell-swinging God-warrior. The main message I want to get across here is awareness. That is the first step after all.

I know I know I've been rambling on about this cause, but hey it's my new passion. On a bigger note, this video is directed at Ivanhoe Village's help with non-profit organizations. They offer a free membership to all non-profits which usually runs at $100. While FCE saves that $100, they are using the extra cash to ship more food to hungry people on four different continents.

Ivanhoe Village is a godsend for non-profits. We're grateful for the cause they serve and in turn we help them further the great cause they're passionate about.

As I will be making a video to promote feeding the youth of world physically. I hope this video feeds those who have a youth mindset about world hunger and the services that IVMS offers to help the organizations accomplish this. We could always learn more about everything. So grab one of these meals, mix with boiling water, take a seat at the kitchen table, open your browser and feed your hungry mind on everything Ivanhoe can do for you.

Ivanhoe and Prosperity are just beyond the Horizon.

Taking the Plunge

Hey all it's been a minute since I've last visited the blog, but hey absence makes the heart grow fonder.

So the last/first time I was here I was boasting about the exciting adventures that were awaiting me. I still have the same mindset believe me. However, that's kind of the problem. I have yet to tackle the video production aspect of my internship with two and a half weeks left of this experience.

Some might say that I'm lazy. Some might say I have no freaking clue what I'm doing here. Those some are completely wrong. I feel extremely comfortable with the work load I have and would even like more to do sometimes. I also have a vast amount of knowledge about the companies and production processes that my internship requires of me. I think the only thing holding me back here is success. A fear of success.

Now to some of you this may sound completely childish and stupid. Yeah, you can shut up. This has been a fear of mine for a long time now. I have fully succumbed to it. There have been flashes of exceptional success at my collegiate level. It has not been consistent though. I produce good quality in short spurts. Now one thing that I have been able to keep constant is my battle to try and overcome it. I do a lot of trying. Now it's time to actually achieve.

This "fear" of mine hasn't been what's holding me back all this time in my life. It's obviously myself. I still view myself as a child in ways, but as an adult in others. The acceptance of responsibility is the grey area where the two overlap. With all this negative talk about not getting anything done, I believe it's time for a change, or in my case it's time to accept change. I have to accept that a change of responsibility is imminent. The big boy pants are being taken out of the closet and are ready to be strapped to a vehicle meant for success.

With all of this being said, my next projects for Ivanhoe Village Main Street promotional videos for The Hideaway Bar and Cabinetry Creations Inc. A little fear never hurt anybody. It just means you're scared of what happens if you don't succeed. If you don't change the world. If you end up alone and out of a job. These videos are newest Everest. There's plenty ways of failing here, but there's even more ways succeeding. Now that's a challenge I'm more than happy to accept.

Ivanhoe Village watch out. Because you're about to be put on the spot ready or not. Time to take the plunge!

Welcome to Internhood

Welcome to the first crack at the real world they say. Welcome to the rest of your life they say. Welcome to the same routine every day they say. Make the world what you want is what I say.

I am an official file sorting, call making, and errand running intern at Ivanhoe Village Main Street, a non-profit company focused on supporting the member-businesses in the neighborhood through a series of promotional events and media.. However, those are just the stereotypes people refer to when thinking intern. Instead I shy away from the dull connotation "intern" brings, and enforce an Life Intern mindset. Too many people consider the role of an intern to be subservient and cruel. I shake my head at those negative thoughts. Interning is a life experience. So one should experience life in all the facets they see possible. So here's my stab at life. Will I stick with it forever? I have no freaking clue. But I do know that this is something worth exploring.

With all this being said some of you would probably like to know what I do at my internship at IVMS, or you just want to shoot me for being such a positive person. Reality check, positive thoughts are contagious.

My "job" consists of researching premium members of the neighborhood so I can make a video highlighting certain aspects of their business. It's a promotional tool. The cool thing is that I call the shots on pre, principal, and post production. I'm kind of a big deal around here. I even get my own Ivanhoe Village email.

In all seriousness, I'm extremely grateful to have been placed in the kind of work environment that I have. There's always positive energy available by the truck load. It's tremendously contagious and addictive. I might OD on excitement. Do not resuscitate if I fall victim though.

There's plenty to look forward to at Ivanhoe Village Main Street. The first project up is a video on The Hideaway Bar on Virginia Drive. It's a place for anyone to fit in. Check it out Mon-Sat 7am-2am, and Sunday 11am-2am. You guys will hear more from me soon. Think happy thoughts.

My Life Internship begins now.
