Welcome to Internhood

Welcome to the first crack at the real world they say. Welcome to the rest of your life they say. Welcome to the same routine every day they say. Make the world what you want is what I say.

I am an official file sorting, call making, and errand running intern at Ivanhoe Village Main Street, a non-profit company focused on supporting the member-businesses in the neighborhood through a series of promotional events and media.. However, those are just the stereotypes people refer to when thinking intern. Instead I shy away from the dull connotation "intern" brings, and enforce an Life Intern mindset. Too many people consider the role of an intern to be subservient and cruel. I shake my head at those negative thoughts. Interning is a life experience. So one should experience life in all the facets they see possible. So here's my stab at life. Will I stick with it forever? I have no freaking clue. But I do know that this is something worth exploring.

With all this being said some of you would probably like to know what I do at my internship at IVMS, or you just want to shoot me for being such a positive person. Reality check, positive thoughts are contagious.

My "job" consists of researching premium members of the neighborhood so I can make a video highlighting certain aspects of their business. It's a promotional tool. The cool thing is that I call the shots on pre, principal, and post production. I'm kind of a big deal around here. I even get my own Ivanhoe Village email.

In all seriousness, I'm extremely grateful to have been placed in the kind of work environment that I have. There's always positive energy available by the truck load. It's tremendously contagious and addictive. I might OD on excitement. Do not resuscitate if I fall victim though.

There's plenty to look forward to at Ivanhoe Village Main Street. The first project up is a video on The Hideaway Bar on Virginia Drive. It's a place for anyone to fit in. Check it out Mon-Sat 7am-2am, and Sunday 11am-2am. You guys will hear more from me soon. Think happy thoughts.

My Life Internship begins now.
